Essay Topics on the Merit of Tradition

Essay Topics on the Merit of TraditionMany of the most prestigious essays are based on the topic of 'The Merit of Tradition'. It is often applied to articles on many subjects. It seems that the issue of tradition is one that no one could live without. While the issue of what is right for everyone will always be present, it seems that with the help of tradition one can live his life and still maintain his dignity and pride. The problem is, how can you live your life according to your principles when you do not have the right to impose those principles on anyone else? You see, that some people do not really know what tradition means. For example, someone might say that one has to keep a promise even if it means breaking it. Then another person might get offended because he does not believe in broken promises. In fact, by saying this, he might be saying that no matter what, he must maintain his dignity because of how wrong it is to enforce this kind of behavior on others. This is not the right thing to do. He should be able to choose and he should be able to say the right things even if it means breaking his own principles.Sometimes, I come across people who ask for my opinion on the topic and say that I do not think that they are right. They may say that some things are just wrong and they are just like breaking promises. I think that this is a ridiculous argument and it is also an example of tradition gone wrong. In fact, there are principles that are so absolute that anyone who violates them can be called a bad person. A person who breaks a promise can be called a bad person. So, what happens if a person keeps on violating his principles? What is the right thing to do if a person is not allowed to choose whether or not he should break his principles or not? Do not tell me that I should not be able to keep my principles when others are telling me that they do not want to respect my principles. If he tells me that he cannot respect my principles, then it is fine for him to not respect them. What if he keeps on violating his principles, and then he tells me that I have broken my promise? Is he supposed to respect the principle that he thinks he broke? Of course not. Therefore, tradition must not be a way of controlling other people. It is not easy to determine what is the right thing to do in any given situation. Each person has different views and different experiences in life. It is only when you find the right balance between the principles you choose and the principles that others want to follow that you can truly make a difference in the world.
